My First Month on City Councilor
Hi Everyone,
I am wrapping up my first month on City Council, and I am deeply honored to represent the Old North End and Downtown.
I began this term with a Special Meeting on the community response to the ICE actions in South Burlington. Thank you to everyone who came out to share your experiences, concerns, and perspectives. Public forums are one of the most important ways to stay engaged and make your voice heard, and I hope to see many of you at future meetings!
I will continue to follow and engage with the aftermath of this incident, knowing it will have a lasting impact on our community. I also recently wrote about this issue in a personal essay, which you can read here: bit.ly/4cIovxi
Serving on City Council is a privilege that I take very seriously. Every email, meeting, and decision is grounded in my core values of justice, equity, and care for our community. This year, I look forward to doing meaningful work through the Public Safety Committee, the Community Development and Neighborhood Revitalization Committee, and the Racial Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, which I will chair.
The decisions made in these committees have real implications for the direction of our city. I warmly invite you to attend our monthly meetings, follow the work, and share your perspective. Meeting information is available at: burlingtonvt.portal.civicclerk.com
I believe deeply that everyone has a role in shaping Burlington’s future. Whether you attend a meeting, send an email, share your story, volunteer, or consider running for office someday, your voice matters.
I look forward to partnering with you to strengthen Burlington for all of us!
